Joanne graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1982. In 1991, she was one of the first Therapists in Vancouver to receive her Hand Therapy Certification. Her clinical work focuses on elbow, forearm and hand injuries, ranging from post-operative rehabilitation to treating repetitive stress injuries. Her professional passion is to custom-design and fabricate splints. In addition, she consults to industry on workplace ergonomics and return-to-work programs. Joanne also offers educational presentations to industry, health care professionals and the public on various aspects of hand therapy practice. Recreationally, she enjoys hiking, cycling, listening to classical music, doing home exchanges in other countries and spending time with her family.
