Now that summer is finally here, it’s time for you to venture outside and enjoy the great weather! Here in the Lower Mainland, we are blessed with mountains, the ocean and beaches. It is important to keep active on a regular basis, eat healthy and stay fit. If you have always wanted to try a new sport or activity, now is the time to do so! Some great ideas include the growing popularity of paddleboarding, windsurfing, kiteboarding, rock climbing, boating, scuba, fishing, swimming, rollerblading, mountain biking, hiking and kayaking. Be careful not to overexert yourself and to drink plenty of fluids as the hot temperatures may rise to 30°C and up. Know your limits and to be sure to take safety precautions such as wearing life jackets and helmets while enjoying sports. In addition, slather on a good amount of sunscreen with waterproof or sport SPF protection when doing water sports and other sports. Stay in the shade whenever possible and give yourself a break from time to time. Most injuries can be prevented, so be prepared in advance and have fun!
